New Stuff

I haven't blogged in so long! So sorry. I've been busy with school and everything. But I thought I'd update on some recent buys! The quality of the pictures aren't that amazing because I'm stuck here in my ugly dorm so it was hard to get good lighting, plus I didn't have my real camera so these were all taken with my camera phone, which is USUALLY amazing. Oh well. Enjoy!

Olive cargo pants from Forever 21. They look like the J Brand Houlihan Cargo pants!

Sweat pants from Theory. They're more like sweat shorts. I love the details on these pants, it's what makes them unique. The zippers and the fake fly make them look better than normal sweat pants. They're sooo comfortable, and I love how you can dress them up with heels and layered necklaces, or down with gladiators and a tank.

Gray denim bustier one-piece from motel. I plan on wearing it with a high waisted skirt and heels for when I go out. :)

Lavender shirt from BB Dakota. It has shoulder pads which I've yet to get used to. It's a little bit on the large size (I got a size small).

Sparkle skirt from Forever 21. I love this skirt, it fits so well. Once again you could dress it up with a lace bodysuit, or you could wear it with a crew neck and layered necklaces.

Cheap Monday tank. Best tank ever. You know you got a good piece of clothing when you have guys at a party complimenting you on it.

Fall 2010, Limited edition Chanel nail polish in Khaki Vert. I love this color. My friend bought it for me as a present. hanel nail polish is probably my favorite because it has the best consistency, lasts extremely long, and comes on super glossy.

And probably my most favorite thing, the HTC Droid Incredible. An amazing phone.

Look for less: cut out dresses

Gucci's Spring 2010 rtw collection made slashes and cut outs one of the most popular trends this season. You don't have to pay Gucci prices for this style that's already made its way to racks and online stores.

This dress can make any woman's body look great. Pair it with towering platforms and you're sure to look like a million bucks. I love it!

Trends that I wish would just die

GRANDMA CHIC.

I think we can all blame Urban Outfitters and the hopeless romantic girls of Lookbook.nu for this mess. The high-waisted floral culottes, the brooches, the chain-link Chanel bags, the men's-wear influenced oxfords, the ill-fitting blouses. Any piece of clothing that can be described with an adjective connected to a noun with a hypen probably means you're wearing something a grandma would wear. You're also probably listening to too much Feist and woman-power indie music, and spending too much time at your vintage/thrift store.

The thing with this style is many of these pieces are great separately, but when you combine all of them, you look frumpy, old, and are drowning in vintage, floral and pastel cloths.

Urban outfitters has been pushing this look for awhile now, but when I visit their website and look through their catalogue, I see that they really wanted girls to start dressing like grandmas this season.

Exhibit A:

Seriously, who under 65 would consider wearing these? Urban liked these shoes so much they decided to sell another pair, that looks almost identical:

Take a look at these sexy shorts

This blouse/dress looks really good. It fits so well.

So ladies, let's do the guys a favor: ditch the lace trimmed white socks and the buttoned to the neck blouses, and put on something a little more sexy.

Asos.com & World Cup 2010

The countdown for the World Cup has reached its end. Friday, June 11, after 4 long years of waiting, the soccer gods will once again bless fans and players with one wonderful month of international soccer. The first game is South Africa vs. Mexico, 10 am ET followed by France vs. Uruguay 2:30 pm ET.

I've recently come across a clothing website called Asos, a British, self-described "online fashion store" that is a close match to Topshop's trendiness, but fits the American's budget (the pound really fucks americans over... sigh). Any international readers may be learning nothing new, as Asos.com is the largest online store for the UK, but I think many Americans have yet to jump on the bandwagon. I was browsing through their Men's section, and I came across a great selection of soccer shirts and jerseys. While most of these are not made by Asos, I appreciate the brands they've chosen, which includes Copa, Adidas, French Connection, and Puma. Here are a few of my favorites:
